Officers were travelling towards Hatfield on Friday morning, when their attention was drawn to this Landrover Discovery.  

As the Landrover passed the front of the Police vehicle they saw the driver holding his mobile phone in front of his face. The brightly coloured phone case gave the game away. In fact the driver was that distracted he failed to even see the Police vehicle.

Officers followed the Landrover causing it to stop near Tudworth Roundabout. Initially the driver denied using his phone, but after some discussion and a reference to our Dashcam he admitted to changing his playlist, whilst towing a trailer might we add.

Further checks showed the driver was not the registered Keeper of the vehicle and was also not insured.

The driver was reported on summons for the identified offences.

If a driver is uninsured, Police have the power to seize the vehicle immediately from the roadside.

The cost to recover a seized vehicle starts at £162, and goes up daily due to storage costs!
