Surron Seized |
||
|
We've seized a high-powered electric bike commonly known as a Surron, after it was being ridden in and around Thorne town centre. The rider has been identified and will be receiving a summons in the post.
These bikes are not the same as a normal e-bike. If they are too powerful, go too fast, or can be ridden without pedalling they are treated a motor vehicle in law.
This means that they need to be registered, taxed and insured, and the rider needs the right licence and approved helmet.
Riding one uninsured or unregistered on the road, pavement or in public places is not only illegal but can be dangerous.
They are quick, powerful and can cause serious injury if something goes wrong.
Please check that your bike is legal before using it public.
