Horse and Carts - Stainforth |
||
|
We’ve received multiple reports of youths riding horses and carts in and around Stainforth, including near schools during pick-up times, causing chaos and posing a serious risk to pedestrians and other road users.
Please be aware: under English law, anyone riding a horse on a public road must keep it under proper control and act with due care and consideration. Reckless or dangerous riding can be an offence under:
• Highways Act 1835, Section 35 – riding or driving furiously or dangerously on a highway.
• Road Traffic Act 1988, Section 3 – driving/riding without due care and attention.
• Highway Code, Rule 49 – always keep your horse under control and give other road users plenty of space.
Riding irresponsibly near schools or busy roads puts children and the public at risk. Police will take action where necessary to ensure safety.
Keep control of your horse, ride responsibly, and respect others on the road. ![]()
