Driving under the influence - female arrested and charged

During the early hours of Sunday morning officers whilst on their way back from Doncaster custody officers were made aware of a female who had just driven away from a pub in Thorne town centre possibly under the influence of alcohol.

Officers were driving through Hatfield when they observed a vehicle driving towards them at speed with their main headlight beam activated. Officers quickly spun their vehicle around in order to follow and stop the vehicle which was then seen to narrowly avoid a parked vehicle - the vehicle was brought to a stop and the female driver was asked to give a specimen of her breath for analysis - to which she failed by blowing 100mg on the police-approved device.

For those that don't know - the legal alcohol limit in England, Wales and Northern Ireland for driving is 35 micrograms of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath. The driver was arrested and taken through to Doncaster custody where she gave an evidential reading of 80 micrograms of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath.

The driver will now face her day in court, receive a driving ban, points on her driving licence and a hefty fine.
